Much of the early excitement around WiMAX is focused on its mobile potential, but even the mobile-capable 802.16e systems will initially be deployed mainly for fixed and nomadic use. This session examines the demand for fully mobile personal broadband services, what will drive that demand, and the factors that are needed to support 802.16e as a high mobility system.

One of the key requirements for mobile WiMAX system is frequency reuse factor (FRF) one. Achieving FRF1 means the most efficient frequency usage and key technology differentiation against other systems. However, challenges are interference mitigation. Several radio resource allocation methods and corresponding system performance simulation results are presented. Performances of using antenna technologies are also presented.
