WiMAX: Mobile Internet Ready for Global
Deployment
Ron Resnick,
President and Chairman, WiMAX Forum
With
the recent selection of Mobile WiMAX by Sprint
as its next generation 4G technology platform,
Mobile WiMAX is ready for global deployment
beginning 2007. This presentation will
highlight Mobile WiMAX as the key enabler for
“personal broadband” services, which will
provide high speed wireless broadband and
always-on IP connectivity in a mobile
environment. The WiMAX Forum expects to begin
certifiying Mobile WiMAX products in late 2006.
Mr. Resnick will discuss the new challenges and
lucrative opportunities facing the mobile
Internet ecosystem to help service providers

4G OR "NEXT
G"?
Peter MacKinnon, General Manager of WiMAX, Chairman, LG-Nortel Joint Venture
Mobile WiMAX introduces a new way to look at the wireless market; a view that is no longer defined by the mobile phone. The open standards and the tremendous bandwidths resulting from the powerful combination of OFDM and MIMO drive a whole new ecosystem of consumer devices, applications, vendors and network operators. Mobile WiMAX is the first technology to deliver true broadband to a universe of inter-connected consumer devices including those in cars, the home, and the office as well as tomorrow's personal, portable electronics. This keynote will describe Nortel's vision of the "Next G" ecosystem, one that is far more than an extension of the 3G ecosystem, and highlight the industry implications of the subtle but profound disruption that is already upon us.
