The first generation of
Mobile Broadband services is being rolled
out beginning in 2006 by 3G mobile operators
using 1xEVDO and UMTS/HSDPA technologies. With
an initial portfolio of business and consumer
mobile entertainment applications, these
carriers are developing the first business case
for Mobile Broadband Services and Applications.
The second generation of Mobile Broadband based
on WiMAX technologies is being tested in Korea
under the "WiBro initiative." The success of
second generation Mobile Broadband networks will
ultimately rest on the unique applications and
services that service providers will be able to
deliver to end users. The
Mobile Broadband Executive Summit will
explore the business case for mobile broadband
services and applications and the fundamental
impact that these applications are likely to
have on business and society.
